Back from my follie check.

Had my follie check for my "Clomid Challenge" cycle and the results were......

Zero mature follies. HA! And, thanks to our lovely insurance, my ultrasound today will cost about $270...you'd think I'd get like a discount or something for no follies lol. Nurse Perky is going to try and code it for "Ovarian Cysts" and see if my insurance will cover it, since I still have that massive 18mm cyst on my left ovary that has been there for the past like 6 months.

I also had my blood draw for my FSH today. Does anyone know what an FSH blood draw on CD12 checks for?

Well I know that FSH is follicle stimulating hormone. FSH stimulates production of eggs and a hormone called estradiol during the first half of the menstrual cycle.

My guess is he is checking to see how much you have of this without med help. It can be used to diagnose PCOS, but you already know you have it. I'm guessing he's just getting the number for yoru records and to confirm his suspicions.

Un-nice. Do you have anything that looks like it is on the way and trying or is it completely quiet in there?

Sucks about your insurance. :-( Still don't understand the system. So finicky! Over here I am not sure that stuff can get covered by insurance but a proportion does get given back through medicare anyway.

Google says:
Clomiphene challenge test
A clomiphene challenge test is a dynamic type of test that can discover some cases of poor ovarian reserve that are still showing a normal day 3 FSH.

This test is done by:
1.Obtaining a day 3 FSH and estradiol
2.Take 2 tablets of clomiphene (100 mg) on days 5-9 of the cycle
3.Repeat an FSH level on day 10 of the cycle
The normal Clomid challenge test result is a low FSH on day 3, a low estradiol on day 3 and a low FSH on day 10.

I was trying to find your blog and finally found it through Bonnie's! Man, I'm sorry about the cysts (I had the 18mm-20mm Mr. Cyst) for like a year (and he probably is still around for all I know). Glad to see that you've got some nice nurses and doctors and you're still truckin along :) *hugs*

Thanks all!

Julia- thank you for that!

G.S.- it was totally quiet in there, with lots of teny tiny cysts

Sam- I've missed you sooo much!! And I TOTALLY thought of you when he told me my cyst was measuring at 18mm, I was literally like "wow, that's almost as big as Sam's Mr Cyst!" lol
